Layout
Base Vehicle
We use the Peugeot Boxer, Citroën Relay, and Fiat Ducato as our preferred base vehicles, chosen for their generous width and adaptable layout options. Together, they provide a reliable, comfortable platform that supports spacious interiors and practical, home-from-home designs.
Each van comes equipped with upgraded Rogue alloy wheels and all-terrain tyres as standard, enhancing both the overall stance and on-road capability.
Exterior
Designed to maximise light, airflow, and connection to your surroundings, the van features a large opening window beside the main living area, perfect for morning views, fresh air, or simply bringing the outside in.
A fixed window on the sliding door adds additional natural light and visibility, while two rear fixed windows frame the space around the bed, creating a bright and open feel throughout the van.
Overhead, a Maxxair fan sits above the kitchen area, helping regulate temperature and keep air circulating while cooking or relaxing. The shower room includes a discreet extractor fan, and a roof vent above the bed ensures a comfortable night’s sleep, whatever the weather.
Insulation
Built for year-round comfort, the van is fully insulated using a combination of thermal and acoustic materials to create a space that feels warm, quiet, and well protected from the outside.
We start with sound deadening applied directly to the van’s metal panels, reducing road noise and vibration while driving. This is paired with high-performance insulation throughout the walls, ceiling, doors, and structural cavities, helping to retain heat in colder months and keep the interior cool in warmer conditions.
A combination of recycled bottle insulation and thermo fleece is used to fill voids and prevent cold spots, while rigid insulation boards are installed in key areas to improve overall thermal efficiency.
A continuous vapour barrier is applied throughout the build to manage condensation and protect the structure over time, ensuring the van remains dry, comfortable, and durable in all conditions.
The result is a noticeably quieter, more stable environment, whether you’re on the road, parked up in the rain, or settling in for the night off-grid.
Electrical System
Built around a premium Victron Energy system, the van is designed to give you complete confidence whether you’re off-grid or on a campsite hook-up.
At the heart of the system is a 300Ah Fogstar Drift Pro lithium battery, providing a large, reliable power reserve to run everything from lighting and charging to higher-demand appliances.
A 3000W Victron MultiPlus II inverter/charger delivers full 230V power throughout the van, allowing you to run household appliances with ease. It also enables seamless hook-up charging when on-site, automatically managing power between the van and external supply.
The system is supported by:
- 400W of roof-mounted solar, keeping your battery topped up off-grid
- 50A DC-DC charger, providing efficient charging while driving
- Full Victron monitoring system, giving you real-time visibility and control via dedicated displays and mobile app

Heating System
The van is equipped with a Truma Combi D4 diesel and electric heating system, providing both blown air heating and hot water from a single, highly efficient unit.
Designed for year-round comfort, the system runs directly from the van’s main diesel tank, eliminating the need for separate fuel storage and making it simple to use wherever your journey takes you. When connected to hook-up, it can also operate on electric for added flexibility.
Warm air is distributed evenly throughout the living space, while the integrated hot water system ensures reliable access to hot showers and washing facilities on demand.
Quiet, efficient, and easy to control, the Truma system keeps the van comfortable in colder conditions without compromise.
Water System
The van features a fully integrated underslung water system, designed to maximise internal space while providing reliable off-grid capability.
A 92L fresh water tank and 62L waste (grey) water tank are securely mounted beneath the vehicle, keeping the interior uncluttered and allowing for a clean, spacious layout inside.
Both tanks are fitted with level sensors, with real-time monitoring available via the internal display, so you can easily keep track of water usage during your trips.
For added convenience, the system includes an automatic grey water dump valve, which can be operated from inside the van, making emptying quick, clean, and hassle-free without needing to crawl underneath.

Filtered Drinking Water
Every VanKind build includes a dedicated Water2 filtration system, giving you clean, great-tasting drinking water directly from your onboard tank. Designed specifically for campervans and motorhomes, the system removes impurities, chlorine and unwanted tastes while maintaining strong water flow.
